How do I register for Takedown at Twilight?
Visit the Register page on this site and complete the online registration form. You will need to provide the wrestler's name, age, weight class, and the division(s) they wish to enter, along with payment to confirm your spot.
What are the registration deadlines & fees?
Registration: Now - August 7: $55
*Teams of 5+: $5 off/player
*Prices may increase at the door.
What are parking/camping fees?
Car Parking:
- $10/Day
- $25/Weekend
Camping Trailers: (dry camping)
- $50/Day
- $150/Weekend
Tent Camping:
- $20/Day
- $60/Weekend
Will there be food available?
Yes, we will provide vendors; however, since these wrestling matches will be in the evening.
*Some vendors may not be open after 8:00 PM
*Bring your own coolers and BBQ’s to make sure you have food available if you are an overnighter!
Who can wrestle?
This is a sanctioned USA Wrestling event, so you must be a member of USA Wrestling to participate.
What are the times of the events?
- Ages 5-11 will start wrestling in the gym at 3:30 pm and will be done around 7:00 pm
*We may extend the time for the younger ages.
- Ages 12-18 will start wrestling at 8:00 pm and go until around 1 am on Friday and Saturday night
- Sunday will be designated for beach wrestling from 8:00 am - 1:00 pm
What time should wrestlers arrive for check-in?
All wrestlers will check in on Friday, August 7, starting at 12:00 pm in the Sozo Gym.
Is this a USA-Sanctioned event?
Yes, it is.
What bracketing system will we use at the event?
We will use USA bracketing.
Will boys and girls overnight camp be in separate locations?
Yes, and there will be chaperons that will be awake all night providing security.
Will there be security & EMT First Aid present?
Yes, we have both security and EMT support.
Is there seating for visitors?
We will accommodate as many people as we can in the gym with chairs. The bleachers on the turf field will seat about 3,000 people.
The later events will be held in the open on the outside mats, under the lights.
Are there any hotels close to the event?
Yes.

What styles will be offered & how many can I sign up for?
We will offer Folkstyle.
*We need to use the mats in the gym and outdoors on the turf field for the events, so there is no guarantee any wrestler will wrestle outdoors at the event!
Will there be showers since this is a dry camp?
We are designating a few trailers as shower units, and we will hook them up to water. Also, we are setting the timers of certain sprinklers for the kids to run through after they conclude wrestling for the day.
Will we get a map of the facility?
Yes, we will have a map available closer to the event!
What are the awards that will be given?
- 1st place: Trophy
- 2nd – 4th place: Medals
- 5th - 6th place: Ribbons
- Outstanding Wrestler: Belts
What is the "Outstanding Wrestler" belt?
Outstanding Wrestler belts will be awarded to individuals judged by coaches as the top 2 overall competitors per divisions (2 to the younger division & 2 to older). That means four belts total are awarded at the event.
Selection criteria for the Best in Tournament belt will be announced at the event. It is expected to reflect a combination of performance, dominance of competition, and overall achievement.
When are awards presented?
Awards will be presented on Saturday night.
Athletes in the younger division will recieve awards around 6:00 pm. Athletes in the older division will recieve awards around 12:00 am (Sunday).
Will awards be available for pickup if a wrestler cannot attend the ceremony?
Please let your coach know so they can contact the organizers directly through the FAQ contact form if a scheduling conflict arises regarding award pickup.
I'm a coach. What do I need to know?
Coaches will receive wrist bands.
Only coaches will be allowed near the mats.
1. 1 coach = 1-3 kids
2. 2 coaches = 3-6 kids
3. 3 coaches 6-9 kids
4. Etc.
What should wrestlers bring to the event?
Wrestlers should bring their singlet, headgear, wrestling shoes, and any required gear for the registered style. Bring water, snacks, and any personal items needed for a multi-hour event. Do not bring valuables.
What should I expect at the venue on competition nights?
Takedown at Twilight is a regional night-event experience. Matches are held under arena lighting at Sozo Sports starting in the late afternoon and running into the evening. Expect an energetic, competitive atmosphere across all three nights.
Older athletes (11U and up) will be wrestling outside while 5-10 year olds will compete in the gym.
Where is the tournament held?
Takedown at Twilight is held at Sozo Sports Complex located at 2200n S. 36th Avenue in Yakima, Washington.
Is there parking at Sozo Sports?
Yes. Sozo Sports has on-site parking available. Arrive early on competition nights as parking may fill during peak session times.
